About Me

East Ayton, Scarborough, North Yorkshire
A group of ladies who enjoy traditional embroidery but who meet once a month to try some experimental work. We meet at Ayton Village Hall on the third Thursday in the month for a full day and again on the first Thursday for half a day. We currently have a waiting list of people who want to join us.

Sunday 23rd January

Had a good meeting on Thursday with the majority of members present, everyone keen to get out and keep in touch with their friends.  We didn't have any demonstrations this time as I think everyone had been busy over Christmas and hadn't had time to do any preparation, I know I haven't.  A number of the members had joined the 'Stitch Camp' workshops run by TextileArtists.org which gave five free video sessions run by Gwen Hedley.  I joined and have really enjoyed getting back into just sitting and stitching.

I am attaching a link to a website about a red dress that has travelled 29 countries and been stitched on by 264 people and it looks amazing. The link is reddressembroidery.com and I have put a picture of it below.

If you look on the website you can see some of the embroideries that have been attached in close up.

Some of the groups work now.

Anne has been collecting recycled items and adding them to this piece of furnishing fabric

Diane is adding some bling to this piece

Moyra has been doing the stitch camp and has produced this interesting piece to work on

New member Glynis is stitching aliums in a variety of colours

I too have been doing stitch camp and this is the first area I have started stitching on. Long way to go yet.
