About Me

East Ayton, Scarborough, North Yorkshire
A group of ladies who enjoy traditional embroidery but who meet once a month to try some experimental work. We meet at Ayton Village Hall on the third Thursday in the month for a full day and again on the first Thursday for half a day. We currently have a waiting list of people who want to join us.

Saturday 20th August

Today I went out to see if the brambles were ready and they have already been well picked over.  I managed to get enough to do a couple of crumbles, so that was good.  We had a good meeting and a decision was made to visit the Stamford Bridge Tapestry project in October.  They offer a good deal for groups to visit - refreshments followed by a talk then time to look round the tapestry, all for £5 each.  I will not be running a coach to the Knitting and Stitching Show this year.  I hope to have an operation on my foot around that time so need to keep it free but I was already in doubt as their ticketing options for group bookings seems to be impractical if you are booking a coach and want to sell tickets up to the day before departure.

Lots of work being done towards the exhibition next year - a date has been set for the 20th and 21st of May 2023.

Apologies for these not been in a proper order but I am grappling with a new computer and how to upload my photographs.

A lovely piece of cyanotype by Susan, these are the reject pieces she has put together to make this lovely panel

This talk looks interesting if anyone would like to go.

Another piece by Susan, this time felting with added beads

Sorry I have forgotten whose this piece is but it is definitely for the Medieval exhibition

Lesley has made this lovely cover for a glass jar that will now hold a candle inside and reflect through the pattern.
