About Me

East Ayton, Scarborough, North Yorkshire
A group of ladies who enjoy traditional embroidery but who meet once a month to try some experimental work. We meet at Ayton Village Hall on the third Thursday in the month for a full day and again on the first Thursday for half a day. We currently have a waiting list of people who want to join us.

Friday 18th August

What miserable weather we have been having.  Have just come back from a holiday in Shetland and Orkney where the weather was considerably better than here. Not hot but at least sunny and dry if a bit windy.

This month was the first time we passed the travelling journals round and after some confusion we have all managed to get the next one we that we should have.  It is quite exiting to unwind the fabric strips and see the first piece of work there and I think the interest will grow with each month.

Here is some of the work that people have been doing this month.

Lis has been doing this beautifully fine work on a very old piece of linen.

Karen bought these fabrics in one of our mixed scrap packs at the exhibition and is now starting a piece of work with them.

This is a decay piece heading for someone's journal.

Judith is crocheting this stunning border for a shawl.

Mavis has made herself this amazing waistcoat using crazy patchwork.
